No authentication is required. cheki fetches this URL, downloads the PDF, extracts the text, and returns structured JSON with sender name, receiver name, amount, date, and reference number.

What you need to verify a Dashen receipt

To verify a Dashen receipt, you need only the transaction reference number.

• Transaction reference number (e.g. B22WDTI261620001 or D31OBTI251720001), found on the receipt or in the Dashen app
• No account number required, Dashen returns the full receipt with just the reference

How to spot a fake Dashen receipt

Fake Dashen receipts are a growing problem in Ethiopia. A fake receipt may have a real-looking reference number but will not appear in Dashen's system. Always verify through cheki or the official Dashen app. If cheki returns 'Receipt not found', the receipt is likely fake.

• Check that the sender name matches who claimed to send the payment
• Verify the amount matches what was agreed
• Confirm the date is recent (not an old receipt being reused)
• Check the reference number format (Alphanumeric Dashen transaction reference (FT Ref / Transaction Reference on the receipt). Do not use the Transfer Reference.)
